The vice-president at the Government of Tenerife and President of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, details that “this product, designed and patented by our tram operator, opts for the award in the Infrastructure section and competes with international companies specialized in civil engineering and technology”. Besides, he advances that, probably, the awards ceremony will be held at the RailTech Europe Fair (Utrecht-Netherlands).
The removable insulating chamber was awarded last year in the Global Light Rail as recalled José Alberto León, the director of Mobility at the Government of Tenerife “with the award for Best Technical Innovation of the Year”. Also, he informs about the strategic alliance signed with the steel multinational ArcelorMittal for the commercialization of this product in the international railway market.
This device enables the replacement of rails in a short time and without demolishing or removing track linings; therefore the maintenance costs are low.
