March 08, 2021

The Association of Women Transporters of Canary Islands carried out a symbolic event on the tram stop, Intercambiador, due to the International Women’s Day. The initiative included the participation of tram drivers of Metrotenerife, Titsa as well as of the taxi sector.

The Mobility director of Island Government, José Alberto León, highlighted that Metrotenerife and Titsa are examples of the women’s integration in the working world. This is evident in the development of the necessary functions of the transport service and also in positions of responsibility and direction of both companies.

The tram driver, Mónica Torres, assured that the presence of women in the transport sector is more and more important and added that the 15% of the Metrotenerife staff are women and in Titsa the figure is 10%.
