Metrotenerife, public transport company of the Government Island, has delivered transport passes to the National Organization of the Blind (ONCE) so that its members can carry out practices to use of the tram service and thus have a greater autonomy in their movements in the metropolitan area.
The vice-president of the Government Island and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, has given the transport passes to the director of the ONCE (National Organization of the Blind) in Tenerife, Andrés Guillén Guillén, and has detailed that with these passes the ONCE members will carry out practices focused on the routes to the stops, the identification and location the interior equipment of the tram, such as, door openers, cancellers or QR codes, among other elements. This kind of training for ONCE members can reach 590 interventions.
The event was also attended by the director of Mobility, José Alberto León, and stressed that Metrotenerife has maintained for years this collaboration agreement through the Social Responsibility Plan of the company. On the other hand, the director of the ONCE in Tenerife, Andrés Guillén has said that the design of vehicles facilitates their use to groups of people with disabilities and the development of those training activities. Besides, he wanted to thank and recognize the commitment and sensitivity that Metrotenerife has always shown with this initiative so essential for the blind people.
