The total demand of the Tenerife Tram in 2021 was 12,500,694 passengers, 21 percent more than in the year 2020 (10,334,894 users). So, the Tenerife Tram, continues to recover the demand rates previous to the Covid19 pandemic. The first vice president of the Island Government and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, points out that “in the last two years, and despite the health situation, the number of passengers on the tram has recovered. These results show that the tram is safe transport for the population and that the prevention measures implemented are the appropriates.
In fact, the demand forecast established has been exceeded. Metrotenerife estimated to finish the year 2021 with 12.4 million passengers and finally this figure has increased by 100,694 more users. Tenerife Tram began its service in 2007 and, so far, more than 193 million users (193,331,414 passengers) have travelled on this public transport.
The Island Government and Metrotenerife thank passengers for the commitment and responsibility shown throughout these years in the use of the tram.
