Metrotenerife, public transport company of the Island Government, has scheduled the tram service according to the new sanitary measures established for the islands at level 3. The Line 1 will finish the service at 2:00 am this New Year’s Eve, Friday 31st, and the during the day the frequencies will be 6 and 10 minutes. Likewise, from 11:00 pm Teatro Guimerá will be the final stop of service in Santa Cruz; therefore, the stops Intercambiador and Fundación will not be operational after that time.
Enrique Arriaga, the vice president of the Island Government and Metrotenerife president, explains that due to the sanitary measures by coronavirus, the tram has adapted its night service and for that reason it will finish at 2:00 am on New Year’s Eve.
Friday 31st, New Year’s Eve
The Line 1 will run every 6 minutes until 3:00 pm and then every 7.5 and 10 minutes. From 9:00 pm, the Line 1 will maintain frequencies of 15 and 20 minutes and will finish its service at 02:00 am on Saturday, January 1st.
The island director of Mobility, José Alberto León, reported that from 11:00 pm, Teatro Guimerá will be the final stop of the Line 1. So, from that time to 02:00 am on Saturday, January 1st, the service will only work between the La Trinidad and Teatro Guimerá stops. He also added that the Line 2 will have frequencies of 12 and 20 minutes on New Year’s Eve, and it will finish the service at midnight as usual.
Saturday 1st, New Year`s Day
The tramway network will run again from 08:00 am on New Year’s Day, Saturday 1st January, with the frequencies of the public holiday.
