The Island Government implants the new contactless transport cards ‘ten+’ that will be free until the end of May for all the residents of Tenerife and can apply for in the external web www.tenmas.com. This new payment system started in July of the past year with the ticket `Abono Joven´ and later was extended to the group of senior people and people with disabilities; an initiative that has overcome the expectations.
The president Carlos Alonso explains that “this action shows the real compromise of the Government with the improvement of mobility and represents one more step in the adoption of specific measures that are on the street like the card for young and senior people which reaches more than 20.000 people in the first case and 24.000 people in the second. We want to adapt the services, which we offer to the citizens, to the new times and to the technology in order to make the use of public transport easier and more comfortable”. The Government wants to push the public transport as one of the solutions to the road saturation and as a complement for the improvement that has been carried out in the infrastructures.
The card’s price will be two Euros because this includes the expenses of emission, management, commercialization and IGIG tax. However, during this promotion phase, the emission of the new payment support will not have expense for all the people that apply for it through Internet until the next 31st May.
The new users will receive it in a maximum time of 30 days, except the groups of large family, university student and Abono Joven Metropolitano, who must get it, accrediting their data, in the information and sale points of the Titsa’s stations and in the commercial offices of Metrotenerife. For the people that don’t have internet access will be possible request the help of Titsa’s informers who will be in the main stations.
The transport card can be reloaded as many times as necessary with 5 to 100 Euros. The groups of large family and university student will be reloaded like they always had done.
The new transport cards replace the magnetic card although both systems will coexist until the definitive implantation of contactless technology. They allow to consult and reload the money or recuperate it in case of the card is lost whenever the user had been registered himself on the web tenmas.es. In the same way, they can be reloaded in the information and sales offices of Titsa, in the commercial offices of Metrotenerife, in vending machines of the stops of the tram and, coming soon, in the shops adhered across the island.
In the buses the users must validate the card when they enter and when they leave the bus. This allows to apply the exact price of the journey and to know the amount of money that has the card. In the case of the tram, the users only have to validate it at the time of access.
