Metrotenerife has been selected to host the European Congress of Trams next year, March 2023, in the island of Tenerife. This annual event, considered one of the most relevant in the continent, promotes knowledge and debate on the innovation and development of trams as key factor for sustainable mobility. It is organized by the prestigious British company Mainspring, specialized in railway transportation marketing and consulting services.The President of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga and the Director of Mainspring, Matthew Johnston, made this announcement at the closing ceremony of the European Congress 2022 that recently took place in Zaragoza. Arriaga remarked that “the designation of Tenerife as the venue of this event is a great opportunity to show the features that have made Metrotenerife a unique operator within the tramway industry. Furthermore, it is a recognition of the hard work done by the team to host this congress that will bring mobility expert delegates from multinationals, public administrations and academics”.
José Alberto León, Director of Mobility at the Government of Tenerife, who also attended the closing ceremony, added that “Metrotenerife´s participation in the Zaragoza Congress has been outstanding. Pablo Oromí, Project Engineer, presented the latest engineering development achieved by the operator, the removable insulating chamber, and Teresa Benet, International Business Development, participated in the round table “Prospects for fare-free travel models”.
